We’ve been tinkering with this list of Japanese movie sex scenes for a long, long time, and finally think it’s time to share with readers.

What follows is a highly subjective list — more our personal favorites than anything else — and, for convenience sake, restricts itself to just the past 20 years or so. We will also continue to update it.

It was intended as an expansion or continuation of our previous list of Japanese actresses who are happy to do sex scenes — there are fewer than you might think! — and just grew from there.

Here are the ladies, arranged in alphabetical order.

Yumi Adachi

Yumi Adachi memorably went nude in Hanayoi Dochu (A Courtesan with Flowered Skin).

Rin Asuka

Not to be confused with the AV actress of the same name, Rin Asuka revealed a lot of flesh in White Lily.

Yui Ichikawa

One of our favorite cuties, Yui Ichikawa went nude in Umi wo kanjiru toki (When I Sense the Sea, aka Undulant Fever).

Mugi Kadowaki

Mugi Kadowaki has emerged as one of the most promising actresses of her generation. You can see her nude in Love’s Whirlpool and Double Life.

Megumi Kagurazaka

The busty gravure idol has been nude more than once, but her stunning sex scenes in Guilty of Romance remain impressive. Miki Mizuno also has a full-frontal nude scene early on.

Noriko Kijima

The slinky Noriko Kijima had some kinky BDSM sex scenes in The Torture Club (aka Chotto Kawaii Iron Maiden). Her sex scenes in The Crawler in the Attic are also nice.

Anna Konno

The popular gravure model made her dreams come true with her nude scenes in the two-part film Ah, Wilderness, which really show her amazing breasts in all their glory.

Yuki Mamiya

Also known as Yuki Mogami, this actress knocked us for six with full-frontal sex scenes in Sweet Whip and other hot scenes in The Crawler in the Attic and The Torture Club (aka Chotto Kawaii Iron Maiden).

Yoko Mitsuya

Yoko Mitsuya showed off a little flesh in Love’s Whirlpool but really went for broke with her role in Taksu.

Kokone Sasaki

While we had already seen her nude photo shoots, it was still nice to see Kokone Sasaki do some great sex scenes in Hello, My Dolly Girlfriend, which also starred Mitsu Dan and Yuki Mamiya.

Nana Seino

The cute Nana Seino bared her breasts in Tokyo Tribe. One lucky guy gets to spunk all over them.

Anne Suzuki

Anne Suzuki exhibited her powerhouse body in her nude sex scenes in The Egoists.

Ami Tomite

Ami Tomite made a splash in the pink film Antiporno, which gave us plenty of shots of her slender body.

Naoko Watanabe

The criminally unknown Naoko Watanabe played a porn star in Nude, which obviously involved her shedding her clothes. She has a great nude scene in Silk, which also has one from Sei Ashina, and more briefly in the gangster movie Outrage.

Maki Yoko

Maki Yoko displayed her ravishing bust in Veronika Decides to Die.

Yuriko Yoshita

Thogh her subsequent career has proved very anodyne, Yuriko Yoshita had several nude scenes and sex scenes, including when her nipples are licked, in Snakes and Earrings.

Honorable Mentions

The most obvious name missing here is probably Rinko Kikuchi, who has stripped off for the cameras at least a couple of times, though these are not really scenes we like (and her sex scenes in Norwegian Wood were downright disappointing).

She’s almost an unknown but Riko did some memorable sex scenes in Suki demo nai kuseni.

Others include Miwako Ichikawa in Konsento and Another Heaven, Arisa Komiya’s rather tame sex scene in Yumeji: Ai no Tobashiri, Chihiro Otsuka’s scenes in Tokyo Refugees, and Mayuki Iwasa in Junan.

Machiko Ono also went nude in Masakiku Araba. Ayumi Ito showed us her breasts in Owl way back in 2004, though it unfortunately wasn’t a sex scene. One of our favorites, Yuka Itaya left an impression with Yokobo (Desire) in 2005.

Sarara Tsukifune had some awesome sex scenes in Sekai de ichiban utsukishi yoru in 2008, including full-frontal nudity.

Tomoka Kurotani did a nice sex scene in the little-seen Tannka.

Hikari Mitsushima is one of those interesting cases of a teenage music idol (in the Okinawan group Folder 5) who dabbled in gravure shoots before establishing herself as a serious actress.

She is now one of the most prominent performers of her generation but also a mainstream celebrity of sorts, appearing in advertising campaigns. This is mostly because the 32-year-old Okinawan native is very attractive: her striking appearance can be attributed to her Okinawan roots and being a quarter (as opposed to a haafu) — her grandfather is American.

She married the director Yuya Ishii in 2010, but they divorced in 2016. She is now said to be in a relationship with the actor Kento Nagayama, who whom she appeared in Life and Death On the Shore (Umibe no sei to shi) (2017).

That would not make for the usual story we write about on this blog, but the film — a drama set in the postwar period — also features Mitsushima’s first nude scene.

She takes off her clothes in a night-time scene, revealing her modest but alluring chest. She pours water on herself and lets the water drip from her wet, slender body. In Japanese, nude or sex scenes are called nureba (wet place) — and that’s literally the case here.

As far as we are aware, this is her much-anticipated debut nude scene. She did have a leading role in Love Exposure, an epic two-part film by Sion Sono, in which she had an erotic masturbation scene and a semi-nude shower scene — but no genuine nudity until now.

Incidentally, Sono’s films frequently have amazing nude sex scenes. Past triumphs include Megumi Kagurazaka, Ami Tomite, and Nana Seino.

Ever since watching the delightful first genuine nude scene by Hikari Mitsushima in a movie last year, we have been on something of a high.

And now comes some shots from a new nude scene with the actress Fumi Nikaido (like Mitsushima, an Okinawa native).

The scene in question is from River’s Edge, a comedy directed by Isao Yukisada, who helmed one of the high-profile Roman Porno reboots in late 2016.

While we will have to wait until the film comes out on DVD for decent screen grabs, a few images taken on someone’s camera at a movie theater screening have already popped up online — such is the demand for this cutie’s fist nude scene.

Fumi Nikaido is shown sitting on a bed naked, her very attractive Japanese-sized breasts on full display. Does this count as a sex scene? We’re not sure, but we’re still grateful for the results.

Fumi Nikaido, who speaks fluent English, has previously tantalized us with a sizzling photo shoot dressed as a sexy bunny girl for Weekly Playboy magazine as well as a more explicit nude shoot that showed off her naked butt.

We believe that this scene in River’s Edge is the immensely popular 23-year-old actress’ movie nude scene debut (correct us in the comments if we’re wrong).

More roles like this, please!

For those readers who don’t have a Netflix subscription or missed the publicity, they may not have seen The Outsider, in which Jared Leto plays the titular character who becomes involved in the Yakuza in postwar Japan.

Well, judging by the tepid response the film has attracted so far, you may not want to see it — unless, that is, you count yourself among beautiful co-star Shioli Kutsuna’s legions of fans and want to see her naked.

The lovely, innocent-looking Shioli Kutsuna (or Shiori Kutsuna) gets as close to actual nudity as she ever has (as far as we know). Incidentally, Kutsuna is a returnee, having grown up abroad, and speaks fluent English. Also, despite playing Leto’s local lover in the movie, she’s about half his age — which is sure to stir many a fortysomething gaijin’s fantasies.

Shioli Kutsuna has two nude sex scenes in The Outsider. All right, we’re being a little clickbaity and playing fast and loose with our choice of words. She’s only nude in spirit, so to speak: you see plenty of skin as she lies on the futon post-coital but only the barest hint (no pun intended) of a butt crack.

Here are the highlights, alluring in their subtle way.

Sadly, then, the sex scenes are not much to write home about, but we shouldn’t be surprised given how Kutsuna’s career has been largely built around her girl-next-door looks. Her agency wouldn’t want to spoil all that for some of Netflix’s gaijin cash.

Fear not, Kutsuna does display flesh — and what flesh it is: a naked back covered in tattoos, which we know can be super sexy on Japanese girls. Asuka Kishi showed us this last year, as did Anne Suzuki and Yuriko Yoshitaka in nude sex scenes some years ago.

The film itself has received terrible one-star reviews for perpetuating stereotypes about Japan and Hollywood’s white savior trope.

Manami Hashimoto has probably replaced Mitsu Dan as the hottest jukujo of the moment, and it’s good to see her spreading her body and talents not just across the pages of the weeklies but also on film and television shows.

From the trailer it looks like the movie Hikaru (Light), directed by Tatsushi Omori, will feature a nude sex scene with her, but we’ll have to wait for the DVD release to check that out and confirm the details.

In the meantime, we were searching around and found a nice little sex scene she did in a TV drama broadcast back in 2016. It’s called Fukigen na Kajitsu (Sullen Fruit, also known as Women in Distress) and is based on a bestselling novel by Mariko Hayashi, first published in 1996 and previously adapted as a TV drama that same year with Yuriko Ishida in the lead and then a film in 1997 with Kaho Minami. It deals with adultery and a sexless marriage — both popular topics in public discourse in Japan right now.

Coming hot on the heels of other successful dramas about adultery, the 2016 TV Asahi version had Chiaki Kuriyama (of Kill Bill fame) in the lead, with support from Rin Takanashi, Goro Inagaki, and our lovely lady, Manami Hashimoto.

This being mainstream Japanese television, there is no actual nudity but we do get to see the joyful sight of Manami Hashimoto riding cowgirl on a lucky guy while he fondles her breasts.

There is also a sexy scene outside where Manami Hashimoto kisses a guy with a bit of tongue, and he then gropes her butt — and who can blame him?!

If Chiaki Kuriyama is more your thing, she has a slightly erotic scene in a hot spring where she shares a cuddle with a male companion, but no real flesh is on show. You get to see her naked back at one point, though, and the bed scene with her lover is quite steamy in spite of (and perhaps because of) all the close-ups.

Yuka Kuramochi is one of the most popular gravure models in Japan, famous and beloved particularly for her curvy butt.

The bits and pieces of acting the 26-year-old has also done have not been anything to write home about… until now.

Since she has done what we think is her first sex scene, in a television drama called Yareta Kamo Iinkai (The Almost Got Laid Committee), which stars Nogizaka46’s Mai Shiraishi as well as Yuka Ogura. The live-action adaptation of Yoshida Takashi’s manga was first produced by online broadcaster AbemaTV (fast developing a reputation as the HBO of Japan) but this version was produced for late-night broadcast on TBS.

All right, this is mainstream Japanese TV, so there’s no actual nudity on display per se. But the scene is still pretty hot and will delight Yuka Kuramochi’s fans.

Playing “mystery woman” Marie Akimoto, Kuramochi is shown kissing her male lover on the street, before they retreat back to a hotel room. She’s then exposed in her underwear embracing the understandably happy man on the bed. The camera lingers on her butt and cleavage.

Another alluring scene shows her stripping down to her lingerie on the roof of a building.

Here are some screen grabs from the South Korean film Chained — The Seduction of Two Women (aka Chain — The Temptation of Two Women) (2017), which stars Jeong Hyang and Hong Sae-hee engaging in some impressive girl-on-girl tender loving.

It’s rare to see Korean lesbian sex scenes like this, which makes a nice change from the usual fantasy tropes in such erotic films. We reckon these are some of the hottest Korean lesbian sex scenes we’ve seen (with the notable exceptions, of course, of The Handmaiden and The Treacherous), but other recommendations are very welcome.

Fear not, though. Guy-on-girl action is not neglected, with two quite strong sex scenes included with Hong Sae-hee.

The scenes are widely available online for anyone with the technical proficiency to search.

The Koreans seem to do these softcore porn films really well, probably because actual adult video and porn is illegal and relatively hard to access, and perhaps also because the Roman Catholic faith is still strongly followed. Whatever the reasons, we love the results.

The cult science fiction TV show Sense8 recently concluded with its second season two-and-a-half-hour finale that featured what is effectively a massive orgy scene.

The cast includes the kooky and cute Bae Doo-na, who is probably the first South Korean actress we had a crush on. That was way back in the 2000s but we’ve still got a soft spot for her.

There were a lot of naked bodies on display in the orgy scene but we think we identified which flesh is Doo-na’s during her quite tender and beautiful sex scene with an on-screen partner.

It’s not every day that you get to see a South Korean actress flash her breasts and butt, not to mention receive head, on an American TV show.

The 38-year-old Bae Doo-na, who is also a photographer and political activist, has been nude in several films — South Korean and international — including Cloud Atlas and Air Doll.

Like most of the cast, she also previously stripped off in other episodes of Sense8: once showing off her sweaty and sporty body and another time in a shower scene.

The Japanese actress Asami Usuda reveals some butt in the film Pumpkin and Mayonnaise (Kabocha to mayonaise), which came out in 2017.

The 1984-born Usuda is probably best known for her television work as well as movies like Rambling Hearts and the recent Gukoroku: Traces of Sin.

Pumpkin and Mayonnaise is a drama directed and adapted by Masanori Tominaga from a manga by Kiriko Nananan and co-stars Joe Odagiri and Taiga.

The scene is sadly not an actual sex scene and hardly explicit stuff, but we have a soft spot for this tender-looking beauties. She walks into a room clutching a towel around her, showing off her a naked back and butt.

Next time, Asami, more flesh on display please!

While this blog is ostensibly about Japanese sex, we like to write about Korean and Chinese topics, too. But we don’t think we have ever talked about anything Vietnamese until now, so we hope fans of Southeast Asian ladies will be pleased.

We recently spotted this Vietnamese movie, The Housemaid (2016), which features a couple of decent sex scenes.

The actress is 29-year-old Kate Nhung and both scenes take place in a bed, with her riding a French man and showing off her butt and breasts.

Unfortunately, one of the scenes involves violence and blood, which has a bad habit of spoiling your hard-on. Nonetheless, Kate Nhung seems pretty lovely throughout.

The film is a kind of In the Realm of the Senses tale of a master-servant affair set against the historical backdrop of the end of colonialism in Vietnam. It shouldn’t be confused with the similarly erotic South Korean film of the same name with Jeon Do-yeon.

Asked about her interracial sex scenes, Kate Nhung told an interviewer: “Vietnamese girls are still tied up with traditional culture, so it is difficult for me. I cried at the start of the scene and I do not want to see those scenes again.”

Though her filmography is not vast, Kate Nhung also starred in a movie called Bitcoin Heist (2016).

We previously wrote up a short piece about Fumi Nikaido’s nude sex scenes in the film River’s Edge (2018), based on leaked shots from the movie during its release.

Now by the grace of the Shinto gods better images have appeared from DVD stills, including shots of Fumi Nikaido having sex with a man in the missionary position on a bed in a love hotel. We get some nice shots of her butt and breasts, though her character is thoroughly uninterested in the sex and swiftly breaks it off. Well, we’ve all had experiences like that.

We believe we are right in claiming that this is Fumi Nikaido’s nude and sex scene debut, and very welcome it is, too.

Still only 23 years old, the Okinawa-born (and English-speaking) actress and model is very popular in Japan. She’s also smart, having been educated at Keio University. She previously posed nude for a photo shoot, revealing her cute butt, and also works as a photographer, recently releasing a hair nude photo book of the singer KOM_I.

The Japanese movie Side Job (Kanojo no jinsei wa machigai janai) features a few great sex scenes with the stunning actress Kumi Takiuchi, playing a woman dabbling in prostitution.

The best scene shows Takiuchi as the delivery health call girl down on all fours, her butt up in the air as she jerks and sucks off a lucky guy lying on a love hotel bed. (Not surprisingly, much of the film takes place in love hotel rooms.)

The film is directed by Ryuichi Hiroki (based on his debut novel), who previously made Kabukicho Love Hotel (Sayonara Kabukicho) — which features a fair bit of sex and nudity, including an amazing sex scene with South Korean actress Lee Eun-woo.

Takiuchi (28) also starred in Twisted Justice (2016), in which Haruna Yabuki has a sex scene showing off her breasts, and the film Greatful Dead (2014), with a somewhat bloody and disturbing nude scene.

Since so few regular Japanese actresses are willing to do nudity, the producers of TV dramas are often forced to turn to porn stars and gravure idols. We are grateful for the results.

Examples of this trend include Shoko Takahashi and Moe Amatsuka and, to a lesser extent, Yuka Kuramochi and Manami Hashimoto.

Notwithstanding the valliant efforts of Fumi Nikaido, Kumi Takiuchi, Hikari Mitsushima, and some other generous ladies, few actresses are willing to drop their clothes on camera in the name of art and entertainment. Luckily there is a plenty of other talent the producers can draw on when needed. Here’s another case of just that.

Adult video star Moa Hoshizora has appeared in the Fuji TV drama show Pornographer. Naturally they asked her to take her clothes off.

Hoshizora made her AV debut in 2014 and has since milked her F-cup assets to the full in dozens of releases. Unsurprisingly, she is also called upon here to show off her body in an alluring bedroom scene.

All right, what you actually see is more or less nothing — just a bit of side boob (the nipples are probably covered by patches). Her back, though, is gorgeous as she arches it in pleasure while straddling her lover. There’s also a hint of erotic asphyxiation (which has long roots in Japan).

But beggars can’t be choosers. There’s so little sex in Japanese TV dramas that you have to be grateful for these scraps.

Of course, Japanese TV basically only has sex scenes and nude scenes late at night and/or on satellite or streaming channels. Recent highlights include gravure idol Asuka Kishi’s tattooed body and the charming idols Kaoru Hirata and Rina Aizawa revealing some flesh, not to mention Mitsu Dan having sex doggy-style.

There are frequently quite steamy scenes, such as from Norika Fujiwara, Marika Matsumoto, Riho Yoshioka, and Mariya Nagao — but no actual nudity.

It’s high time someone started a Japanese HBO.

The gravure idol Yurina Yanagi rewards her legions of male fans by stripping off in the new Japanese film Junpei, Think Again. An image from at least one nude sex in the movie has leaked online.

In it, Yurina Yanagi shows off her breasts as she lies in bed in the embrace of a male lover.

Currently only this blurry shot is available but we hope to update with a better image soon, though we will probably have to wait until the DVD release.

Junpei, Think Again (Junpei, kangaenaose) was released in Japan on September 22nd. It is directed by Toshiyuki Morioka and deals with the love affair between a gangster, played by Shuhei Nomura, and a Kana, played by Yurina Yanagi.

Born in 1994, Yurina Yanagi is one of the most popular gravure idols at the moment, known for her bust and her short hair. She has an older sister, Iroha Yanagi, who is also a gravure idol — which may the only such arrangement of its kind in the current industry, perhaps with the exception of haafu idols Marina and Erika.

It is not unknown for gravure idols to exploit their appeal when making forays into acting. Last year, Anna Konno made headlines with her nude scenes in Ah, Wilderness.

She tempted us with her hot but tame sex scenes in TV drama for a while but thirtysomething gravure idol Manami Hashimoto finally did a proper nude sex scene in the film And Then There Was Light (in Japanese, Hikari), which came out in Japan last year.

And finally some screengrabs are floating around, though we have to apologise for the poor quality. Hopefully we can get our own hands on a DVD or better images soon.

There are two sex or nude scenes of note in the drama to enjoy, it seems. In one, Manami Hashimoto has sex with her young male lover (played by Eita) in his apartment. They kiss and strip passionately, his hands hungrily grabbing her butt under her skirt. She licks his chest, which is super hot, and then they have sex from behind while lying down.

In another scene, jukujo Manami Hashimoto approaches her lover as he enters his apartment. She is totally nude but only shows her butt, though it’s actually not particularly sexy and doesn’t show off her shapeliness that we have grown to love so much from her gravure shoots.

In general, the nude scenes are not much to write home about — something of which we had been warned by a loyal reader. Still, any amount of sexiness involving Manami is something in our books and let’s hope she continues to appear in films of this ilk.

We first reported about the awesome nude scene by gravure idol Yurina Yanagi back in November.

Now that the film Junpei, Think Again has become available online, the full extent of the scene in question has come to light. And if you’re one of Yurina Yanagi’s thousands of fans, then you’re in for a real treat. We made a few screen grabs to share with you all today.

In the sex scene, which appears at around the 43-minute mark, Yurina lies down on a bed while her partner kisses her sweaty, curvy chest and stomach, including a nice close-up of her nipples being licked. Wow, Christmas came early this year.

We are pretty certain this is 24-year-old Yurina Yanagi’s debut nude and sex scene, though she has done some a semi-nude photo shoot before in addition to all the usual bikini and lingerie shoots.

She also looks super sexy with short hair.

Can you forgive us? It’s been a fair while since we posted something about a South Korean movie sex scene. It’s not for want; not a day goes by when our mind doesn’t wander to some of the awesome nude scenes Korean cinema has given the world, but we’ve struggled recently to find reliable sources of information, videos, or screengrabs.

Well, before you all go into withdrawal, here’s another great example to kick off 2019.

The Korean actress Jin Seo-Yeon shows off her chest in a nice nude scene in the movie Believer (2018). The thirtysomething actress flashes her breasts to a lucky guy, who somehow manages to restrain the urge to nibble and lick those perky titties.

In another scene, the 1983-born beauty is shown dancing provocatively in lingerie, though there is sadly no actual nudity.

Alluring and attractive as she most certainly is, Jin Seo-Yeon is not especially famous, it seems, judging from her credits, but she has a good role in this thriller about a drug ring.

This is what she looks like out of character.

The actress and model Reina Triendl, who is one of the many cute haafu that dominate Japanese pop culture, has stripped for a sex scene in TV drama Perfect Crime on TV Asahi.

The half-Austrian, half-Japanese 27-year-old is shown in bed with a male partner (who has a prominent wedding ring on his finger) in the current drama.

Don’t get overly excited. The scene is relatively tame. You don’t get to see any actual nudity, but if you like bare backs you are in for a treat. The kissing is chaste and, if anything, rather unappealing, but Triendl looks pretty and alluring throughout proceedings in the hotel room. That being said, she hardly gives off the impression of someone who would take the upper hand in bed, so expect her to be passive! But hey, this is Japan, so nothing new there!

Triendl’s biggest role to date is probably the lead in the 2015 Sion Sono film Tag, which also starred Mariko Shinoda and Erina Mano.

The South Korean movie Burning came out in 2017, starring the lovely Jong-seo Jun (aka Jeon Jong-seo) alongside Steven Yeun and Yoo Ah-in.

In the Oscar-nominated thriller, which is based on a Haruki Murakami short story, the 24-year-old Jong-seo Jun is nude in two scenes, including quite a nice sex scene when she is lying down and revealing her cute Asian breasts. In the other scene, she is walking around outside naked, which is unfortunately not something we see enough of in real life.

Jong-seo Jun (Jeon Jong-seo) is only just beginning her career and doesn’t yet have so many credits to her name. But with the big impression she made in Burning, she is set to become a star and hopefully she will continue to take edgy roles like this where she is not afraid to strip for her art.

Iconiq first burst onto the scene in 2010 when she came out of nowhere to front a major advertising campaign for a beauty brand. Her cropped hair and stunning complexion immediately made her a household name in Japan.

Her music career fizzled out and the Japanese-Korean model-singer then promptly disappeared, apparently due to issues with her agency.

Iconiq previously attempted a comeback with a semi-nude photo shoot under the new name Yumi Ito (actually one of many names she has used in her career), but nothing much happened subsequently (unless we missed something).

We are happy to report that Iconiq (Yumi Ito) is back again, this time as an actor. Now in her late thirties, she has a role in the drama series Perfect Crime on TV Asahi.

Not only that, Ito’s role involves her performing a sensual sex scene in which she is shown enjoying herself with a man in a hotel room. This being mainstream Japanese television, though, there’s no direct nudity, but we’ve already basically seen what she looks like in the buff, so it’s not hard to fill in the gaps while watching the scene. She keeps her lingerie on, but you get a decent look at her bust.

As we previously reported, Perfect Crime also features Reina Triendl, who likewise has a (relatively tame) bedroom scene.
